The inspiration and pattern to this dress is, as the Italian 1560 dress, found in the book: ”Patterns of Fashion. The cut and construction of clothes for men and women c1560 –1620” by Janet Arnold.

The dress that inspired me for this costume was a dress that Pfalzgräfin Dorothea Sabina von Neuburg (-1598) was buried in.

This costume is also made of green velvet. Green is my colour! The costume is decorated with gold ribbons and buttons in the colour of gold and black. The smock is high-necked and in fine cotton. I did not find linen fabric of the right kind. The costume includes a corset, farthingale and a bomroll. It also includes a petticoat with a forepart and a green velvet skirt open at the front and decorated with golden ribbons and buttons in black and gold. The skirt can be closed. Finally it also includes a doublet.

The double is high-necked with hanging sleeves. Lose sleeves are tied in to the doublet inside the hanging sleeves. The lose sleeves are decorated with small golden pearls, in the same way as the forepart on the skirt. The doublet is decorated with gold ribbons and buttons in black and gold. To the doublet a small ruff is used.

I often use the same brimless hat as to the Italian dress. But some times I have pearls in my hair instead.
